TikTok Shop's European summer sale saw a more than fivefold increase in sales; this is the real test for sellers!
2026-07-21

This summer, TikTok Shop experienced another sales boom in the European market.

Recently, TikTok Shop's fully managed summer promotion successfully concluded in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain. According to official data released by TikTok Shop, over 300 products achieved sales exceeding $10,000 during the event. After the promotion, sales of summer trending products in the UK increased 1.5 times compared to before the event, while sales in Germany, France, Italy, and Spain as a whole increased 1.2 times.

Thanks to a localized fulfillment supply chain, many top-selling products saw rapid sales growth, driving overall sales of summer trending products to increase more than fivefold. Merchants using the European local managed model saw their promotional performance more than double compared to normal days. Meanwhile, newly opened markets such as Poland, the Netherlands, and Belgium also experienced rapid business growth.

As TikTok Shop continues to expand its European footprint, more and more cross-border sellers are starting to establish a presence in the UK and EU markets. However, this sales growth also means a simultaneous increase in order volume, after-sales inquiries, and returns. How to efficiently handle European returns is becoming a crucial issue for sellers to improve operational efficiency.

The European market continues to expand, and the importance of returns management is constantly increasing.

In recent years, Europe has become one of the key overseas markets for Chinese cross-border sellers. According to the "European E-commerce Report" released by ECDB (eCommerceDB), Europe remains one of the world's largest regional e-commerce markets. The UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy have consistently ranked among the top in European e-commerce transaction volume, with categories such as apparel, beauty, home furnishings, and consumer electronics maintaining stable growth.

At the same time, European consumers generally have a strong awareness of returns. According to Zalando's "2025 Fashion & Lifestyle Report" and publicly available research in the European retail industry, apparel and footwear categories have consistently had higher return rates than other product categories due to factors such as size, color, and style. For TikTok Shop sellers who mainly sell clothing, shoes, bags, beauty, and home furnishings, establishing a comprehensive local returns system has become an important guarantee for improving the consumer shopping experience and reducing operating costs.

Especially during major promotional periods, after a rapid increase in order volume, returns usually begin to appear several weeks after the event ends. Without local return warehouse support, sellers not only incur higher international logistics costs but also risk inventory buildup and decreased product value due to lengthy return processing times.

Why are more and more sellers choosing local European return warehouses?

Many cross-border sellers initially choose to return all returned goods to their home country for processing when entering the European market. However, as their business expands, this model gradually reveals efficiency and cost issues.

First, international return shipping costs are high. For low-priced items, international shipping costs can even exceed the value of the goods themselves.

Second, processing times are long. Returning goods to the home country often involves multiple steps such as international shipping, customs clearance, and re-warehousing, which is not only time-consuming but also easily affects inventory turnover efficiency.

Furthermore, many returned goods actually have resale value. Many returned goods only have damaged packaging, missing labels, or minor appearance issues. After local quality inspection, repackaging, and relabeling, they can still be resold. Returning all of them to the home country not only increases logistics costs but may also cause sellers to miss the optimal sales window.

Therefore, an increasing number of TikTok Shop sellers are adopting a local European returns processing model, completing returns receipt, quality inspection, sorting, and relisting locally to improve product utilization.

It offers customized services including door-to-door pickup, returns reception, return packaging, restocking, direct destruction, and return shipping to China, helping sellers improve after-sales efficiency.

France returns warehouse: Fast Quality Inspection, Improved Return Processing Efficiency

U-Speed's France returns warehouse is located in Reims, France, approximately a 10-minute drive from Reims Airport. The warehouse covers 3,000 square meters and has a maximum storage capacity of 600 pallets (PLT), with a team of over 20 people.

The warehouse supports returns reception from multiple platforms and leverages thousands of pickup points across France to provide sellers with convenient return logistics services. It can complete unpacking and quality inspection within 24 hours and provides services such as labeling and relabeling, restocking, local warehousing, local transfer, return shipping to China, and destruction of worthless goods. The overall return processing time is approximately 2-5 days.

U-Speed's 20,000-square-meter Spanish returns warehouse has a daily processing capacity of over 12,000 items and employs more than 100 staff, providing 48-hour professional quality inspection.

The warehouse supports returns logistics and door-to-door pickup services throughout Spain (including island regions), handling both general merchandise and large items, covering categories such as women's and men's apparel, electronics, toys, bags, shoes, and home goods. In addition to return receipt signing and inspection, it offers various processing solutions including labeling and relabeling, restocking, defective product sales, local warehousing, direct destruction, and return shipping to the home country, meeting the after-sales needs of different sellers.

Germany and Italy Returns Warehouses: Covering More European Markets

Besides the UK, France, and Spain, U-Speed also has returns warehouses in Germany and Italy, providing more flexible returns processing solutions based on sellers' business layouts. This helps businesses manage returns across multiple European countries in a unified manner, reducing the operational pressure of multi-warehouse coordination.

Local returns processing allows returned goods to return to sales faster.

For cross-border sellers, returns don't mean the end of a product's value. By using local European return warehouses to handle return receipts, product quality inspection, photo feedback, sorting, relabeling, and relisting, many eligible products can return to sales more quickly, improving inventory utilization and reducing losses from returns.

As TikTok Shop continues to expand in the European market, returns management is becoming a crucial part of cross-border sellers' supply chains. Establishing a robust local European returns system in advance not only improves the after-sales experience for consumers but also helps sellers manage overseas inventory more efficiently during rapid business growth, achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement.
